To provide peace of mind for working parents with a convenient, efficient, educational child care program.
At The Discovery Tree, we have three core values that guide our interactions with children.
Using the most trusted camera system in childcare, our education center offers parents the opportunity to see their children at all times. throughout the day.
We have live cameras in all of our classrooms so that you never have to miss a moment of your child’s growth. Watch Me Grow cameras are a brilliant way to connect with your child’s day, seeing the learning they take part in, the care they receive, and the joy they experience throughout their time with us. It gives you the chance to enjoy your child’s day at The Discovery Tree just as much as they do.

We use the Bloomz app to help with classroom communications and connect families with one another. It is a secure, free, invitation-only app that makes communication quick, simple, and easy. Messages, photos, and videos are posted by your child’s teacher to keep you updated about your child’s experience at school.
Families can also post communications and invitations for playdates and parties. In addition, Bloomz provides easy access to the Director and Owner if needed.
The infant room is a cozy space for our youngest children. Our goal is to help babies feel safe and nurtured, and have opportunities to explore and discover the world around them. Each baby is cared for according to their own feeding, play, and sleep routine. We understand that growth and development milestones occur at different times for each child, so lesson plans include separate activities for ages 3 to 6 months, 6 to 9 months, and 9 to 12 months.
We provide toddlers with a safe, inviting space to wander, waddle, and play. At this age children are transitioning from an individual daily routine to a group daily routine. Meals are eaten together and naptime offers a chance to recharge for more fun in the afternoon. Weekly lesson plans help children to begin to understand simple concepts through seeing, touching, hearing, smelling, tasting, and moving. Language development activities introduce new words to build communication skills while interacting with friends.
Our older toddlers are busy gathering and organizing information about the social world. Children learn how to manage their emotions and form positive relationships with adults and peers. Staff members provide routines that are predictable, yet flexible, allowing time for potty-training along the way. Weekly lesson plans include daily greetings, songs, stories, pretend play, and sensory activities. As with all our age groups, we adhere to the PA Learning Standards for Early Childhood Education.
In the world of Early Childhood Education, the words “Preschool” and Pre-K are often used interchangeably. At The Discovery Tree, we consider our 3-4 year old class to be Preschool and our 4-5 year-old class to be Pre-K. We sometimes combine the groups based on the needs of the children and the program.
Our staff members continually observe and assess children throughout the classroom routine and plan activities using the Kaplan Early Learning Curriculum as a foundation for lesson planning. We understand that there is a delicate balance between encouraging exploration and discovery while still helping young children learn self-regulation and the social skills needed to be compassionate and empathetic toward others.
Activities are culturally relevant, age-appropriate, and most importantly, interesting and fun. Weekly lesson plans include learning centers and small-group activities designed to promote: language and literacy, creative expression, math explorations, scientific inquiries, social development, and active movement.
The Discovery Tree is proud to provide Pre-K Counts, Pennsylvania's state-funded Pre-K Program. Pre-K Counts is FREE for those who are eligible due to household income.
The program operates on a 180-day academic calendar year September through June, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Extended child care services are available before and after the school day (for a fee). Children must turn three or four by September of the attending school year. Healthy breakfast, lunch, and snacks are included.
Since Pre-K Counts is funded and regulated by the PA Department of Education, the Lead Teacher is PA Certified. The Pre-K Counts classroom has the same curriculum and learning standards as our other classes. To find out if you qualify, request an application from the Director.
